Time to get to work
Yesterday's announcement by President Biden that he was stepping aside was a gut punch of the first magnitude. I remember screaming as I read the first news reports, and walking back and forth in our hallway, locked between livid anger and supreme sadness. I felt betrayed.
But as the afternoon wore on, I calmed down. The subsequent news that high profile Democrats were falling into line and supporting Vice President Harris lifted my mood. I began to feel optimistic about November.
Today as I woke up, came the realization that yes, we have an election to win, had me facing a hard, cold reality. Can we ride this wave of optimism right into November? I don't know. Trump still leads in almost every poll. Can Kamala rally?
I am hoping the answer is yes. But it will take a concerted effort. Donate. Volunteer. Join a Get-Out-the-Vote postcard campaign. We need a laser focus on defeating djt and the trumpublicans. They are an existential threat to democracy.
